When you've landed on the best, your mind's eye is instinctually aware. Heart racing, a smile immediately forms on your face as you near the port. Akin to the same reaction you have when approaching a handsome man or a very beautiful woman. Yes... you are very aware you have reached one of the most lush and tropical destinations in the world.

Wishing you already had your swimsuit on, longingly you gaze at the aqua blue mesmerizing water of the Andaman Ocean and a serene feeling washes over you as a warm breeze glides over your face.

With an immediate thought, "It doesn't get any better than this."

Such is the visceral sensation when pulling into port on Koh Phi Phi. Pure delight!

Coincidentally, we had not planned on staying on Koh Phi Phi. We originally were enroute to Koh Lanta from Phuket but due to the weather (during off season there are rainier days than others) you are not guaranteed the ferries will run. Such was the case for us as it was only going to Koh Phi Phi that afternoon. There was a morning ferry we could have taken but after a few cocktails the evening before... 8:00 appeared too quickly. But the schedules do change, so always check online. Phuket to Koh Phi Phi by ferry, van, bus, taxi from THB 850 - Jul 2025 ✅

Sometimes while traveling what you think is a disaster in the moment turns out to be a blessing in disguise. FLEXIBILITY IN TRAVELS IS THE KEY TO A GOOD HOLIDAY.

(There are smaller companies, Bundhaya speed boats, that you can take but if a storm does approach the swells are quite high on a small speed boat. When travelling, we try and keep safety as our number one rule of thumb.) The price is for the speed boat can be up to 1,245 baht or $38 one way and there is an entrance once on the Island of 400 baht for adults, 200 baht for children.

Ferry fees can vary. $42 per person one way during low season. Peak season prices are higher. Also there are different ferry operators you can check out.

The best way to get to Koh Phi Phi is by ferry. We left from the Rassada Pier at 11:00 am and our ferry ride took about 2 hours to Koh Phi Phi. Lovely view from the top deck. NIce A/C on the lower decks. Food and drinks are available for purchase or you can take snacks in your backpack as was the case with us. Our luggage was stored on the lowest deck with everyone else's in plain view. Surprisingly we did not worry about petty theft as much as we have while in South American Countries and Central America. (No offense meant to these truly lovely destinations.)

As you approach the port and disembark from the ferry, the real excitement begins!
